church as a united body (5:25, 29–30) and for those who trust in him as individuals (3:17). 19 Paul recognizes, however, that he is attempting to measure the immeasurable and so paradoxically prays that the Ephesian Christians may in fact come to know a love that is ultimately unknowable (cf. 1:19; 2:7; 1Co 8:1; Php 4:7).
